Review: CDX is a simple-to-use application which provides users with tools for quickly creating multipurpose covers, whether we are talking about CDs, DVDs, UMD Video, Playstation, PSP, Xbox 360, HD-DVD, Blu-ray, or others. It primarily caters to first-time users. The interface of the program is represented by a standard window with a plain and simple layout, where you can use the Explorer-based folder structure to seamlessly navigate directories and locate pictures to apply as covers. The tool offers support for several image formats, including JPG, BMP and GIF. You can select the type of cover you want to create, and apply pictures from the current location by simply clicking it. A few adjustments can be made, such as flipping the picture or applying the mirror effect, and adjusting the brightness, contrast and saturation levels. Furthermore, you can apply a few effects, namely blur, diffuse, sharpen, smooth, noise, contour, dilate, emboss, engrave, edge detect and enhance, erode, relief, black and white, grayscale, and negative. CDX is very light on the system resources, using a minimal quantity of CPU and memory. It has a good response time to commands and works well, without causing the OS to hang, crash or pop up error dialogs; we have not come across any issues in our evaluation. However, CDX packs some limited features, and this might not be appealing to users who are looking for more advanced settings.
